Having a school in our town is essential for keeping the community vibrant and thriving. Marine faces unique challenges due to its geography, with resources and representation heavily concentrated in the southern part of the school district. To ensure the presence of a school in Marine, a strong volunteer effort is crucial. I believe I possess both the skills and the time needed to contribute meaningfully to this important cause.

I recently completed two terms as a Trustee at Hill-Murray School, where I served as the Chair of the Finance Committee. Even after my term ended, I continued to serve on that committee to ensure continuity. During my tenure, I applied my background in nonprofit governance to guide the school through a transformative period, shifting its management practices from traditional approaches of the 20th century to a modern, strategic governance model. This change was vital, especially as the school was unprepared for the significant enrollment decline that followed the 2008 recession.

At Marine Village School, I will bring the same commitment to addressing the often-overlooked yet essential governance functions that underpin a school’s stability and long-term success. The key areas I will focus on include board development, strategic planning, financial oversight, policy creation and review, risk management, compliance assurance, and, in my view, the most frequently overlooked but critical governance function—mission fidelity. My dedication to these governance tasks would ensure that Marine Village School is well-equipped to thrive, adapt, and fulfill its mission. Please let me know if you would like any further information.
