Building Maintenance Job Description
The Custodian is responsible for general care, cleaning, and minor maintenance of the building interior and exterior. Custodians will work consistently to provide a clean, hazard-free and safe environment for staff and students.
Reports To: Classroom Teacher and Principal
Hours: .5 hour/day 3:30-4:00pm (as needed on mornings after snowfall)
Compensation: Volunteer Position
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Custodians will perform a variety of tasks to ensure the building is always kept clean and orderly for staff and students. Custodians must be able to accommodate cleaning and maintenance needs as they arise and show flexibility in getting tasks done. They will be expected to prioritize tasks so the needs of staff and students are met first, including:
- Wiping down and lightly cleaning bathrooms daily. Removing trash and replenishing supplies.
- Lightly cleaning interior areas as needed, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting and trash removal in hallways, offices, classrooms, lunchroom, and any other assigned areas
- Cleaning light fixtures, ceilings and vents, walls, furniture windows and window coverings as needed

- Shoveling sidewalks and treating icy areas as needed
Educational Assistant/Classroom Paraprofessional Job Description
The primary role of the Educational Assistant is to contribute to and enhance an effective learning environment by offering students personalized attention, instructional and behavioral support in accordance with the Marine Village School mission to provide a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that fosters academic success in a traditional yet dynamic setting. Students will be provided with necessary tools which will promote a love of learning, respect for our environment, a sense of wonder, and responsibility for our community.
Reports To: Classroom Teacher and Principal
Hours: Part-Time; 5 hours/day 9:45am-3:15pm
Compensation: Volunteer Position
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Clerical (.25)
- Prepares teaching materials (copies, cuts, laminates, etc) in an accurate and timely manner.
- Sorts, corrects, records, distributes student work and communicates meaningful information to the teacher.
- Records data from assessments to be reviewed by the teacher.
Management (.25)
- Mirrors teacher and principal classroom management and techniques
- Maintains awareness of student behavior and safety
- Manages student behavior and safety
- Actively promotes positive interactions between students
- Reports student progress as appropriate to the teacher
- Utilizes intervention techniques designed by the instructional team
- Assists with snacks and lunch, light cleaning as needed
Instructional Support (.50)
- Mirrors teacher and principal instructional practices
- Delivers instruction as directed by teacher and principal
- Knowledgeably assists in whole group instruction
- Leads and manages some small group remediated instruction

Receptionist/Office Assistant Job Description
The Receptionist/Office Assistant is the first point of contact for all students, staff, families, visitors, and volunteers. They should be welcoming, personable, and helpful as they represent Marine Village School in a professional and friendly manner. This person is organized, flexible, and has the ability to multitask as they serve the community through phone calls, written communication, and face-to-face contact. They maintain a professional and organized office space and perform general office functions while supporting the work of MVS staff.
Reports To: Operations Manager and Principal
Hours: Part-Time; 4.5 hours/day 11:00am-3:30pm
Compensation: Volunteer Position
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Greet visitors and callers as they enter the building
- Answer telephones and doors
- Assist visitors with the sign-in procedure
- Fill teacher supply requests in a timely manner
- Run copies and laminate items for teaching staff in a timely manner
- Receive and distribute incoming mail & packages
- Maintain and keep the supply room stocked and organized
- Assist students with minor illnesses or injuries that require band- aids or have fevers
- Assist with (fire, emergency lock down) drills
- Maintain a school copier machine (filled with paper & toner, call for repairs)
- Ensure school hallways have pictures, posters properly placed throughout the building
- On occasion, refill bathroom soap, sanitize dispensers, and toilet paper if running low
- Other assignments given by the Operations Manager and Principal.
